HTS Medical Laboratory Takes Health Screening to the Community During the 2026 Lenten Season

Extending care beyond the laboratory through community health engagement

In March 2026, during the Lenten season leading up to Easter, HTS Medical Laboratory carried out a community health outreach within the premises of the Catholic Church of Pentecost.

The outreach provided an opportunity for members of the church community to interact directly with laboratory professionals and access basic health screening and laboratory-related services in a convenient community setting.

Taking Healthcare Closer to the Community

At HTS Medical Laboratory, we believe that quality healthcare is not only about providing services within the walls of a laboratory. It is also about creating opportunities for people to become more aware of their health and encouraging appropriate health checks.

During the outreach, the HTS team engaged participants, carried out available screening activities and provided guidance to help individuals better understand the importance of routine health monitoring.

The programme also created an opportunity for participants to ask questions and interact directly with laboratory professionals.

Prevention Starts With Knowing

Many changes in health may not immediately produce noticeable symptoms. Appropriate health screening can provide useful information that helps individuals know when further medical evaluation may be necessary.

Community outreaches such as this therefore provide an important opportunity to promote:

  1. Greater health awareness;
  2. Preventive health practices;
  3. Appropriate laboratory screening;
  4. Early identification of potential health concerns; and
  5. Better health-seeking behaviour.

Service With a Human Touch

Beyond the screening itself, the outreach reflected what HTS stands for:

H — Honesty: providing responsible and professional health information.

T — Tranquility: creating a friendly and reassuring experience for participants.

S — Safety: maintaining appropriate practices while providing health screening services.

We appreciate the leadership and members of the Catholic Church of Pentecost for providing the opportunity to engage with their community during this special season.

Beyond the Laboratory

The March outreach forms part of HTS Medical Laboratory’s commitment to making quality laboratory services and health information more accessible to the communities we serve.

As we continue to grow, we look forward to more opportunities to collaborate with churches, community groups, workplaces and other organisations to promote preventive health and better health awareness.
